Francis Bacon Self Portrait 1963
An interpretation of a self portrait by Francis Bacon painted in 1963 that seeks to combine the tones and textures of the alabaster stone with the structure and form of the portrait so as to accentuate the features and expression. There is an inherent conflict within this piece between the shadows of the carving and the dark lines within the stone. An experiment that hasn't entirely achieved the desired outcome.
